The 210S ground throw with low level targets has the basic throw already assembled at the time of purchase and only the target assembly must be assembled by the modeler.
Cut the gear and the cover off the spur. The cover is the modified “U” shaped ABS plastic shape or has one leg is angled, There are two hooks on the cover that will snap into the base after the gear is installed, so do not remove them.
There is two ways to do this assembly, both ways work. One side of the gear has a double diameter shaft (pin) and small diameter will go into the round hole in the base of the ground throw.
The first way is to assemble the 210S/ 109R, raise the handle so it is straight up or it is in the middle of the travel. Put the single diameter thru the cover and grab it with an alligator clip to hold into place. Now center the gear so that when this assembly is snapped into place the center of the gear is centered in the rack gear on the slide bar.
The second method is to put the gear into the base first and hold the throw at an angle to hold the gear into the rack. Then throw the ground to make sure the gear and rack are engaged, and then the cover can be snapped into place.
No glue is required and the base is Delrin plastic that is self lubricating so glue doesn’t work well. Now the target can be cut from the spur, NOTE that target has two rectangular fins and two half ovals. The center of the target will fit over the shaft that is above the gear and cover and this can be glued into place because these parts are ABS plastic. Just be sure the targets are aligned properly. Now the targets can be painted as required by your railroad.
There are numbers that can be used for the top of the targets and glued in place in the proper orientation for the ladder tracks and then painted as required.
